OUR CLIENT
St Thomas More Catholic School is an Academy with over 400 students in years 7-11. The Academy is a part of St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust consists of 20 primary schools and 5 secondary schools in Derbyshire and the surrounding counties. Entrust offers a wide range of services to the public, private and education sectors. Entrust ensures that school buildings are conducive to a safe, comfortable, and sustainable learning environment.
THE BRIEFING
The School had been experiencing issues with their hot water and heating and it would be more cost-effective to install replacement boilers than carrying out maintenance on the existing set. The brief for this project was as follows:
- Decommission the heating plant situated in the main plant room that serves the school
- Install three new Remeha Quinta condensing boilers, complete with all requisite ancillaries and pumps
- Install a new water heater
- Install and commission the new BMS – carried out by Demma
- Lagging by T&S Installations
- Integrate these boilers with the well-functioning and recently certified flue system
- Establish the electrical services
- Integrate the BMS controls across all three plant rooms on the premises.
- Carry out the final commission of both the BMS system and the entire plant, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
IN THE END
Once the installation was complete, the School had hot water and heating again. The Trend IQView4 has a user-friendly interface which allows maintenance staff at the School to easily interact with the BMS. The Trust has remote access to the system which enhances the system’s accessibility and allows for timely troubleshooting and maintenance. This refurb was carried out during the summer holidays, so that there would be no disruption to teaching. Students now have a much more comfortable environment to learn in and the School is well prepared for the cold weather.
