THE BRIEFING
The scope of work to be completed by Ford Mainwaring included the following:
- Separate the Main Cold Water (MCWS) Supply from the existing Cold Water Storage Tank (CWST) and drain the water.
- Disconnect the connection points including overflow and early warning.
- Disconnect the pipes for MCWS and Temperature Controlled Water System and remove them until they reach local valves that can be closed.
- De-commission and remove tank from the site for proper disposal.
- Install a new sectional GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) CWST to replace the old tank.
- Set up a tank divider in the new tank, similar to the previous tank, which will include two chambers with ball valves.
- Make any necessary modifications to the piping, connecting the new tank to the existing pipes.
- Refill the tank with water and ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Treat the water in the tank with chlorine and neutralizing agents before putting it into use. Take a water sample for testing, and once it meets the required standards, issue a certification.
IN THE END
Dean Cockburn from Ashcroft Unit gave us the following feedback regarding the tank installations;
“Brilliant job from start to finish from all the team involved at Ford Mainwaring. Being able to maintain the cold water supply to the building appeared a challenge to the site but through the installation of the mains bypass there was little to no downtime at all. Great levels of communication throughout the project at all times and handed over to site on time with the project programme. Extremely happy with the finished job & look forward to working with Ford Mainwaring again.”
